Kyoto will always be one of my favorite cities of all time. You will find a lot of temples and shrines while walking through the historical city streets. Today, I will share some beautiful temples and shrines that are perfect for a morning walk.
Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
(伏見稲荷大社 / ふしみいなりたいしゃ)

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine is widely worshiped by people who pray for prosperity in business, abundance, and family safety. The Senbon Torii (thousands of torii gates) at Fushimi Inari Shrine is a famous spot known for its long path lined with red torii gates. It is said that there are around 10,000 torii gates throughout the shrine grounds. A torii gate is a traditional Japanese gate that marks the entrance to a sacred space, symbolizing the transition from the ordinary world to the spiritual world. The striking red gates create a unique and spiritual atmosphere. The Fushimi Inari Shrine is huge, and it takes about 2 hours to walk the 4-kilometer loop around the mountain. Along the way, there are sacred spots and landmarks, making it perfect for a morning walk.

Yasaka Shrine is the head shrine of approximately 2,300 shrines across Japan.
At Yasaka Shrine, people visit to pray for things such as protection from evil, health, prosperity in business, and family safety. In spring, you can admire the beautiful weeping cherry trees (shidare-zakura) in Maruyama Park, located next to the shrine. In autumn, the shrine is also famous for its stunning autumn foliage.
